Laughter is the best medicine
Leo and I are both feeling a bit sick. Not surprising after all the kissing in France and all the bugs that seem to be going around, topped off with our big trip back to Kosovo.
So we have both had a day on the couch at home making each other laugh.
The best medicine!

Leo and the Jumo
Leo had lunch with his cousins Mathys and Lucas 'les jumeaux' today. Lucas (or maybe it is Mathys??) has his mouth full of easter egg in these photos, and Leo looks like he's pretty keen on a taste too.

Cousin Catch-Up
Cousin Chloe came to visit Leo on easter Sunday. They had fun catching up and swapping stories about the radical adventures they have been on. Leo told her about his life as a Balkan baby, and Chloe told him about her life as a punk rocker.
The Dreaded Tummy Time
He still hates it, but at least he is making some progress now. We've moved on from 5 minutes of face-plant screaming, to about 15 minutes of grumping, but not too much hysteria. People keep talking about mini push-ups and I don't exactly know what they should look like. Maybe this is it?
Anyway, that'll do for now.
I'm trying to like this...
...but this is not my idea of a good time.
and now I'm buggered.
Anyway, that'll do for now.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles
We made it back to France after our 12 hour epic voyage from Pristina.
It started at noon yesterday and went something like this:
30 minute drive from home to the airport
1.5 hour wait at the airport
1.5 hour flight to Vienna
45 minutes at the airport
1.5 hour flight to Paris
30 minute trip on the RER
15 minute trip on the metro
2 hour ride on the train (which we made with only minutes to spare - but which was free because the ticket machine was broken!)
1 hour ride in the car
We arrived home at midnight, pretty dishevelled, and looking forward to doing it all again in reverse in 8 days.

Up in the air, we fly, zoom zoom a zoom a zoom zoom
We're off in a plane again today.
But Leo is cool with that. Look how relaxed he was the first time he flew.
These were some of the incidents from the first trip - which was 12 hours from our door in Ainay to the door of our new apartment in Pristina:
- 3 hour car trip with Pape and Grandmere when a light came on the dashboard half way which according to the manual meant 'stop the car now and take it to a Peugot dealer'. We didn't stop.
- head security guard at the Paris security gate making me un-sling a sleeping Leo because we beeped, which meant I had to hand him to a security guard while I walked and re-walked through the scanner, which meant Leo screamed his head off, which meant the head security guard got lots of very dirty looks from me and pretty much everyone else in the airport.
- Leo befriending the tall, funny-haired, grumpy Austrian lady next to us on the flight from Paris to Vienna, even though she desperately wanted to be grumpy at him because I don't think she liked babies very much.
- Leo doing a massive explosive poo that went up his back during the same flight, which soaked through his onesie and pjs. So I had to wrap him in my scarf to avoid the sling getting all poo-ey. 40 minutes in the change room in Vienna, and he was a new baby!
- Being nearly denied entry on the flight from Vienna to Pristina, because Leo and I had different surnames and different nationality passports. Fair enough, really. Luckily I had packed a birth certificate in my carry-on, which saved our skin.
So hopefully we'll avoid any similar incidents on this journey. Except the friend making part. But this time we have papa with us to help which is going to make a hell of a difference.
So! time to do the final packing, and get this Fraussie show on the road! Hopefully by this time tomorrow we'll be taking a stroll through the castle gardens together.

Potty Mouth
Leo reckons his mum has a potty mouth.
When I was changing his nappy on the weekend he surprised me with a squirt of pee, causing me to shout, and the pee to fly straight into my open mouth.

Baklava Baby!
Well I was wrong about Leo waking up. He slept right through til 5.30, giving me enough time to make my baklava.
So he got a big kiss from his mum.

No rest for the wicked.
And I must be really really wicked.
This is a photo I took 5 minute ago of Leo pretending to sleep - note the eyes half open:
If the last 24 hours are anything to go by, he'll be awake and crying for a feed again in about 20 minutes.
For future reference - either for our next baby, to show grown-up Leo when he's whinging about his own babies and their feeding/sleeping habits, or just to look back on one day when I am actually sleeping again and wonder at the madness of it all - this has been Leo's feeding schedule since 11.30 pm last night:

It is not usually this bad! But he certainly has been hungrier and grumpier than usual for about a week , leading to all sorts of night-time fun for me, a couple of bouts of mastitis and an our of hell for Romain about 3 nights ago when I thought it was safe for me to slip out and do some shopping because he had just fed. Leo decided about 15 minutes after I had left that he ABSOLUTELY had to eat again, which resulted in 45 minutes of hysteria, and me arriving home to find Romain wild eyed with ear-plugs jammed into his ears. Poor Leo, poor Romain.
It is now 3.30 pm and he is doing his fake-nap thing. The clever and sensible thing for me to be doing right now is to be also sleeping myself, but I tried to lay down before and couldn't sleep. I think I've forgotten how to.
So instead I'm going to make some baklava!

You've got a long way to grow, little Leo
Leo is super fascinated with his hands these days - and tonight he discovered that his Dad has hands too! Here they are comparing hand size.
