November Family Portrait

We all squished into the tub on our last night in Kosovo before Leo and I made the big trek to France.

And the word is….

Hold the phone!  The word is NOT sheep, it is…………..

ZEBRA!

And what an excellent choice for our little bilingual bub because it is pretty much the same pronunciation in English and French.

We were only getting the first part of the word before - the zeb - which we misheard as sip and interpreted as sheep, so Leo is partly to blame for mumbling his words.  Now we have it in full.  Zebra!

Bravo Leo!!!

City Park

We spend a lot of time at this park in the centre of Pristina - known as City Park or Italian Park (because it was funded by the Italian government).  The trees are beautiful, the walking paths are lovely and there is a great little cafe where they sell margarita pizzas for 2 dollars, fresh shopska salads for 1 dollar and  "macchiatos" (which are actually lattes) for 50 cents!

Sheep

I think Leo might have said his first word today.

He has been babbling a lot since last Friday as we have been trying to figure out if there are any words in amongst the gibber.  Today he was cruising around the house saying "sip".  Which is a pretty difficult word to say, with the "p" at the end.  "Sip?"  I asked him.  "Do you want to a sip of water?"  Nope.  "Sleep?"  I tried.  "Do you want to go to sleep?"  But that didn't seem to hit the button either.  "Ship?Do you want to sail away?"  But then I saw his pile of books, with "Where is the Green Sheep" on top because we read it 5 times a day.  In fact we'd just read it this morning and he actually managed to turn the pages with his little fingers.

Of course!  Sheep!

"Sheep?"  I said.  "Where is the Green Sheep?".

He gave me a big smile and said it again.  So I guess that is it.

I'll see tomorrow if he is saying it again and then we'll know for sure.

Leo the Leftie

Romain caught up with his mate, Mihalis, when we were in Greece.  He was setting up the sound equipment for some left-wing band night, so we went out to the venue to say a quick g'day.

Leo liked hanging with the leftie crowd.

He got a few good ideas.

He especially liked the part about living in anarchy.

Athens

We have just come back from our weekend in Athens, where Romain wanted to test his mettle in the Athens Marathon.

Mettle now tested in the 10 km run, he has his sights on the full marathon for 2015.  Leo reckons he'll join him.

Leo dances to Zorba the Greek while Romain looks like he might pass out.

But he quickly perks up and triumphantly lifts his Leo-shaped trophy high

Post-race family pic.

Then to really test his athleticism, Romain packed Leo onto his back and climbed to the Acropolis.

It was a pretty good view from the top.

Movember

Dad's joke.

Leo's reaction.

Sun Therapy

Poor little Leo has a blocked nose, which means neither he nor I are getting much sleep at the moment. The apartment was nice and warm this morning so I took off his shirt to let him get a direct hit of vitamin D.  I caught him pulling at his belly rolls - I guess it has been a while since he has been without a shirt on.

He looked a bit sheepish about it all.

Leo and the 3 Bears

Behind you, Leo!  Behind youuuuu!

Leo can bear-ly believe his eyes.

Unbearable!

And three of them?  Well that's just overbearing!

And goldilocks says - where's yer bloody porridge!
